Desktop Activity Intelligence & Workforce Analytics

Background

Professional teams often work across multiple applications throughout the day. For example: AutoCAD → Browser → Email → WhatsApp → SketchUp → Meetings → Documentation.

Traditional timesheets require employees to manually remember and record how much time they spent on different projects and activities. This can be inaccurate, incomplete and time-consuming.

Problem

There is a need for an intelligent system that can help understand work activity and automatically assist with project-based timesheet generation.

The challenge is not simply to track computer usage. The system should attempt to understand:

What application was being used?
What project was the activity related to?
What type of work was being performed?
How much time was spent?
How confident is the classification?

Expected solution

Participants should develop an Activity & Timesheet Intelligence System.

The solution should ideally support
a

Desktop Activity Collection

Capture application / window activity with appropriate user consent.

b

Activity Classification

Classify activity into categories such as design, research, communication or documentation.

c

Project Association

Associate activity with a project where possible.

d

Automatic Timesheet Generation

Generate suggested timesheet entries.

e

Manual Correction

Allow users to correct classifications.

f

Confidence / Intelligence

Indicate how confident the system is in its classification.

g

Project Analytics

Show how much time projects or activities consume.

h

Data Privacy & Usage Controls

Give studios the visibility and control over what is happening.

Illustrative flow

Desktop Activity → Activity Detection → Application / Context Analysis

→ Project Classification → Work-Type Classification → Confidence Score

→ Suggested Timesheet → User Review / Correction → Approved Timesheet → Project Time Intelligence

Key requirements

The prototype should demonstrate:

  • Activity collection
  • Application / activity classification
  • Project association
  • Automatic timesheet suggestion
  • User correction / approval
  • Basic project time analytics
  • Data privacy & usage controls

The solution must be designed with user consent, transparency and privacy in mind.

Expected outcome

Work ActivityUnderstandingSuggested TimesheetHuman ApprovalProject Intelligence

The goal is to reduce manual timesheet entry while producing useful project-level time intelligence.
